Michelle Ambrozaitis is in private practice in
Harrison, Michigan, serving clients throughout
northern Michigan. She has handled hundreds of
cases spanning the District, Circuit, and Family
Court systems. She is also an adjunct instructor at
Mid-Michigan Community College where she teaches
Criminal Law for Police Officers and Legal Issues in
Corrections.
In 1995,
Ambrozaitis earned her undergraduate degree from the
University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown. After
receiving her undergraduate degree, she went on to
earn her law degree, with honors, from the Thomas M.
Cooley Law School in January 2001. Ambrozaitis is
currently licensed to practice law in Michigan and
Pennsylvania and is a member of both state Bar
Associations.
Ambrozaitis began
practicing law in 2000 while completing an
externship at the Ingham County Prosecutor’s
Office. After she was admitted to practice law, she
worked in the Cass County Prosecutor’s Office and
then the Clare County Prosecutor’s Office.
Ambrozaitis is the
proud wife of an Army Soldier and they have been
married for over 5 years. Gabe is currently
deployed stateside in support of Operation Enduring
Freedom and the Global War on Terrorism.
Ambrozaitis moved
to Clare County in 2003, while Gabe was serving our
country in Afghanistan. “When I moved here I didn’t
think I would know a soul. But as it turned out, I
had a friend here from law school and I have met
many wonderful people. I couldn’t have asked for a
better support system while my husband was away. It
is one of the many reasons why I call Clare County
home.”
Since moving to
Clare County, Ambrozaitis has been involved in the
community. When she first arrived in town she saw
an ad in the paper asking for volunteers to help
with AYSO soccer in Harrison. “I called them up and
got involved.” That was the beginning of her desire
and willingness to get involved in the community and
she has been involved since.
Ambrozaitis comes
from a law enforcement background – her father was a
Corporal with the Pennsylvania State Police; she
clerked with the Pennsylvania State Police while she
was attending college; and she worked as a private
investigator before attending law school. It is
this background that prompted her to go to law
school and to follow a career in criminal
prosecution. She believes that in order to be an
effective Prosecutor, one must be able to
communicate well not only with law enforcement,
Judges, and the Court, but with the community at
large as well.
In deciding to run
for Prosecuting Attorney, Ambrozaitis says, “People
have been approaching me for the past couple of
years to run for Prosecutor. There is a strong
sentiment in the community that it is time for a
change. I believe that I can offer the citizens of
this county a clear choice for change on Election
Day.”
